Happy Sunday! I hope you had a wonderful weekend, despite the outcome of yesterday's game.  The weather was definitely beautiful. This is our first week in the environmental engineering lab. I'm looking forward to working with all of you. On Monday, during lecture we will go over the lab experiment and report.  We can also go over the LSI calculation from last week. Assignment 2 is due on Friday.  If you need the grace period just let me know.  Have a great rest of your day and see you in class on Monday. It's definitely looking like fall.  For more photos from this weekend: https://ene483fall2023.blogspot.com All the best, Dr. Masten

Happy Sunday! I hope all of you were able to relax and rest this weekend. I was able to get in several good walks and to go apple picking as the weather was perfect. If you're interested in apple picking and want to go some place close to campus, I'd suggest Clearview Orchard at 1051 Barry Rd, Haslett, MI. They also have pumpkins, gourds, and raw honey.  Of course, there are Uncle John's and Country Mill, but they're farther away (and a lot more commercial). Clearview Orchard, Haslett, MI I've posted the material for the first lab.  Monday's lecture, "Drinking_Water_Compliance_Monitoring" is the first file in the folder  Lab 1: Determining LSI " on LON-CAPA. The participation question will be done in class on Monday. In Lab this week you will have the opportunity to continue working on Assignment 1 and to start Assignment 2.  The data for Assignment 2 is located in the Assignment 2 .  I would suggest watching the video on graphing that is in the...

Greetings and happy Sunday, I hope you all had a good weekend.  Last week, I attended the Board of Directors meeting of the Association of Environmental Engineering and Science Professors in Philadelphia from Wednesday through Friday.  On Friday, I took the train to visit my mom in northern New Jersey.  I was scheduled to fly back to Michigan this morning; however, due to the storms on the East Coast, my flight was canceled. The first flight I could get back is on Monday afternoon.  I apologize for canceling lecture class and office hours on Monday, but I hope that when you are my age, you're able to visit your mothers (mine is 87 years old).   I'll give Monday's lecture on Tuesday and Thursday during the first 50 minutes of the lab sessions. You will still have the time to work on the homework during your respective lab sessions.  I will open the online participation question today and it is due Friday, Sept 15, 11:59 PM. Assignment 1 is due Sept 22, ...

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend and the last few days of summer!  It's definitely been a beautiful weekend.     This week in ENE 480, we will prepare health and safety plans during lab.  You will complete these in your assigned teams, which have been posted to LON-CAPA.  Only one team member needs to upload your HASP to the dropbox on LON-CAPA. The HASP is due on at the end of each lab period.   We will meet in the Trans Lab to work on the health and safety plans. I anticipate that you should be able to complete the HASP within the first two hours. The link to the template is on LON-CAPA.  Please make sure to download the template before you begin your work. The grading rubric along with a pre-recorded lecture is posted on LON-CAPA in the Health and Safety Plans folder. Section 2 students: there has been a glitch in scheduling the Trans Lab (which allowed it to be double booked for ENE 480 and ENE 472).  The conflict is from 2:4...
