Week 3: Sept. 17, 2023

Happy Sunday!

I hope all of you were able to relax and rest this weekend. I was able to get in several good walks and to go apple picking as the weather was perfect. If you're interested in apple picking and want to go some place close to campus, I'd suggest Clearview Orchard at 1051 Barry Rd, Haslett, MI. They also have pumpkins, gourds, and raw honey.  Of course, there are Uncle John's and Country Mill, but they're farther away (and a lot more commercial).

I've posted the material for the first lab.  Monday's lecture, "Drinking_Water_Compliance_Monitoring" is the first file in the folder Open Folder Lab 1: Determining LSILab 1: Determining LSI " on LON-CAPA. The participation question will be done in class on Monday.

In Lab this week you will have the opportunity to continue working on Assignment 1 and to start Assignment 2.  The data for Assignment 2 is located in the Open Folder Assignment 2Assignment 2 .  I would suggest watching the video on graphing that is in the Close Folder Graphing Data video and powerpointGraphing Data video and powerpoint folder.  I've also posted the notes from Lab this past week in the Close Folder Assignment 1Assignment 1 folder.

As a reminder, Assignment 1 is due Friday, Sept. 22. Assignment 2 is due the following week: Sept. 29. If you need the grace period for the assignments, just email me.

Week 1: Happy Labor Day!

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend and the last few days of summer!  It's definitely been a beautiful weekend.     This week in ENE 480, we will prepare health and safety plans during lab.  You will complete these in your assigned teams, which have been posted to LON-CAPA.  Only one team member needs to upload your HASP to the dropbox on LON-CAPA. The HASP is due on at the end of each lab period.   We will meet in the Trans Lab to work on the health and safety plans. I anticipate that you should be able to complete the HASP within the first two hours. The link to the template is on LON-CAPA.  Please make sure to download the template before you begin your work. The grading rubric along with a pre-recorded lecture is posted on LON-CAPA in the Health and Safety Plans folder. ENE 480: Week 14 Dec 3, 2023

Happy Sunday, Several of you have asked for an extended grace period to have time to study for the ENE 421 exam.  As I understand that this exam is a significant portion of your grade, I will allow you until Tuesday at 11:59 PM to turn in Lab4 report/presentation. Any extensions beyond this Tuesday will result in a 10%/day penalty. In the lecture this week, you will work with your teammate(s) to analyze the kinetic data you obtained last week for the final lab project. This will help you decide what to do in lab this week. I will not present any new material. The last participation (reflection) question is on LON-CAPA and is due on Monday 12/11 at 11:59 PM, at the same time as the final project report (which can be submitted as a team) All the best, Dr. Masten
